Meet Our Team

Steve Cunningham, PT, MPT
Practice Owner
Steve Cunningham, PT, MPT, has more than 22 years of experience, obtaining his physical therapy degree from the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific, in 1996. Steve has gained substantial experience over the years while working and managing in many medical settings. In 2007, Steve formed his own private practice, Alliance Physical Therapy, PC., serving two locations in Greeley and Fort Collins, in order to deliver exceptional care to patients, and achieving extraordinary outcomes with top-notch customer service. Steve is highly skilled in nearly all aspects of outpatient physical therapy, effectively treating patients with a multitude of diagnoses. Areas of particular passion for Steve include treating complex shoulder injuries and post-surgical shoulder issues, as well as surgical and non-surgical patients with cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine conditions. Further, Steve effectively treats and manages patients with headaches, and worker’s compensation patients from injury to return to work in the most efficient manner. Ongoing and routine continuing education training helps to keep Steve current with the latest treatment techniques. He is certified in Dry Needling and Active Release Techniques.
Jordan Billings, PTA, CLT
Practice Manager
Jordan Billings, PTA, CLT, Alliance Practice Manager, believes in creating a fun, interactive, quality, and comforting environment for all patients. Jordan always looks to provide a cohesive environment for all team members ensuring quality care to all as well as ensuring Alliance Physical Therapy is the best place to be in Northern Colorado. Jordan Billings is native to Colorado. She earned her Bachelors in sports and exercise science, and further earned her Associates as a Physical Therapist Assistant and is licensed in the state of Colorado. Jordan Billings began her career in a spine clinic specializing in post-surgical spine patients and back/neck injuries. Jordan joined the Alliance Physical Therapy team in 2014 where she has specialized in worker comp cases and functional capacity evaluations. Over the last two years at Alliance she has founded and developed the breast cancer/disease rehabilitation program and recently became certified in lymphedema management to round out the program. Jordan enjoys anything out door, from camping to fishing to ATVs. In her spare time Jordan spends time with her husband and daughter.
Brenda Diamond, PTA
Operations Liaison
Brenda Diamond, PTA, is a Greeley native who has been practicing in the outpatient setting for over 20 years, 10 of those years as a key team member at Alliance Physical Therapy. Brenda received her Physical Therapist Assistant degree from Denver Technical College in 1997, and is licensed in the State of Colorado. Current responsibilities include working with patients of all ages while creating an individualized program for each client to return to optimal health and an active lifestyle. Brenda excels in treating a wide variety of medical conditions and treats patients in both the Fort Collins and Greeley locations. Specializing in post-surgical upper extremity and shoulder cases, her outcomes are exceptional. Brenda also enjoys treating patients with lower extremity conditions, complex workers’ compensation and motor vehicle cases, as well as patients who suffer from headaches. As Operations Liaison, Brenda helps Alliance ensure each clinic setting and team member is equipped to serve optimally. Her duties also include community outreach projects such as free screenings for the public along with volunteering with the Area Agency on Aging for Weld County. Brenda is the proud mother of 4 sons and enjoys spending quality time with them.
Jim Kennedy, PT, DPT
Greeley Lead Physical Therapist
Jim Kennedy, PT, DPT, is a licensed Physical Therapist from the coastal town of York, Maine. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Saint Joseph’s College in Standish, Maine where he was captain of the baseball team and volunteered for numerous outreach programs. He received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Franklin Pierce University in Manchester, New Hampshire. It was there he met his girlfriend, Emily, who was born and raised in Colorado and he moved here shortly after graduating in the spring of 2017. Jim is the Lead Physical Therapist in the Greeley clinic. He enjoys treating all conditions, but especially focuses on both non-surgical and post-operative cases of the lower extremity as well as shoulder. Further, Jim specializes in workers’ compensation injuries, and performs Functional Capacity Evaluations. He is passionate about returning his patients to their prior activities so they can live life the way the want! He has a particular passion for returning athletes to the sport of their choice as well.
Layne Martin, PT, DPT, CEEAA
Fort Collins Lead Physical Therapist
Layne Martin, PT, DPT, CEEAA, earned her bachelor’s degree in exercise science from the University of Kansas and her doctorate from Missouri State University. Layne excels in treating all impairments, as Lead Physical Therapist in our Fort Collins office. Layne specializes in surgical and non-surgical conditions of the shoulder, however, she is also highly experienced and passionate about disorders of the spine, headaches, vertigo and balance impairments. Layne is certified in Dry Needling. Outside of work, Layne competes in triathlons and enjoys snowshoeing, snowboarding, backpacking, traveling and soaking up all Colorado has to offer.
Lacy Tonniges, PT, DPT
Physical Therapist
Lacy Tonniges, PT, DPT, graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Health Promotions while playing soccer for the “Cowgirls”. Lacy then attended the University of Nebraska Medical Center, graduating with a Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy in 2004. Lacy’s extensive continuing education includes neuromuscular manual therapy, breast cancer rehabilitation, vestibular rehabilitation, and adhesive capsulitis. Lacy enjoys working in the Greeley clinic with individuals of all ages and conditions, empowering the patient in their care, and helping patients reach their optimal health. In her spare time Lacy enjoys being in the mountains with her husband and three kids, helping coach/cheer on their sports teams, volunteering in their school, and volunteering in the community.
Kelsey Kovac, PT, DPT
Physical Therapist
Kelsey Kovac, PT, DPT, has always had a passion for the human body along with being able to help people. Kelsey, originally from the Midwest, graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay with a bachelor’s degree in Human Biology with an emphasis in Exercise Science in 2013. She then completed her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Illinois in 2016. Kelsey’s experience includes two years in an inpatient rehabilitation setting with knowledge and skills with individuals post-stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury and post-operative orthopedic injuries. Regarding outpatient rehabilitation, Kelsey treats in our Greeley location and specializes in individuals with impairments in balance, spinal dysfunction, general post-surgical conditions, and vertigo. Kelsey has a strong desire to learn and is planning on pursuing further education regarding women’s health and pelvic floor dysfunction. Outside of the clinic, Kelsey enjoys weight training, being outdoors and spending time watching her husband participate in demolition derbies.
Alex Humphries, PT, DPT
Physical Therapist
Alex Humphries, PT, DPT earned her bachelor’s degree in health and kinesiology from Purdue University and her doctorate degree from Washington University in St. Louis. Alex primarily practices at our Fort Collins location and is highly skilled and effective in treating all shoulder conditions, both surgical and non-surgical. Additionally, Alex specializes in lower extremity impairments, but enjoys correcting movement in order to reduce pain or enhance function in any part of the body. Alex is certified in Dry Needling. Her hobbies include hiking, skiing, traveling, running with her dog Hudson, and enjoying everything Colorado has to offer outside.
Melinda Kelly, LMT
Massage Therapist
Melinda Kelly, LMT, is a Colorado native and has 13 years of experience as a Massage Therapist. She has trained in many areas of massage therapy and has a vast depth of knowledge in massage techniques, but her greatest passion lies in using various manual techniques to work with clients who suffer from chronic and acute headaches, TMJ, and low back pain, in our Greeley location. Additionally, she in highly experienced in treating motor vehicle and workers’ compensation cases. She loves to assist clients in helping them reach their goals of optimal wellness. Outside of massage, she focuses on spending time with her beautiful children.
Nathan James, LMT
Massage Therapist
Nathan James, LMT, has been practicing massage therapy since 2003. Nathan has 10 years focused experience in Family Practice and Pain Management. Further, Nathan specializes in motor vehicle and workers’ compensation cases. Nathan also has a passion in Neuromuscular Therapy to restore patients to an active lifestyle. When not at Alliance helping patients, Nathan enjoys being at home spending his time with his wife and daughters. Nathan’s ultimate goal in massage is to help people return to an active and healthy way of life, in our Greeley location.
Matt Caffoni
Fort Collins Clinic Supervisor
Matt is the Clinic Supervisor at our Fort Collins clinic location. He is a recent transplant to Fort Collins having relocated from San Diego in 2017. He brings to Alliance over 20 years of experience in the medical admin & billing field. Past work includes NoCo Plastic & Hand Surgery, San Diego Diagnostic Radiology, and Dr. Kristine Soly Holistic Cardiology to name a few. Matt is an aspiring amateur baker who also enjoys spending time reading and getting lost in the wilderness.
Laura Vermilyea
Front Office Coordinator
Laura Vermilyea earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Colorado in biomedical sciences and chemistry and also studied post graduate work at Colorado State University. Laura brings exceptional customer service and professionalism to the Administrative Team, as a Front Office Coordinator in our Greeley location. You will always see Laura smiling as she brings warmth and kindness to each person she interacts with. Outside of work, Laura enjoys traveling abroad, deep sea fishing, big game hunting and anything the great outdoors has to offer! Laura recently purchased a home here in Colorado with her fiancé Bradley and their two dogs Frankie and Hunter.
Brandi Thompson
Front Office Coordinator
Brandi Thompson is one of the most friendly faces you’ll meet at Alliance Physical Therapy, as she brings customer service to the highest level by consistently going above and beyond for her team and for every patient. As a Front Office Coordinator, in the Greeley location, she will work with your medical provider’s office, your insurance company, and your Physical Therapist to ensure your visit is an easy process from start to finish and will work with your schedule to accommodate your needs. Brandi has over 20 years of experience in the medical field. She has worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Rehabilitation Technician, and Dental Assistant. When not at work Brandi enjoys live music, spending time with her family and shopping.
Raquel Tovar
Front Office Coordinator
Raquel Tovar is a Windsor, Colorado, native. Raquel is a Front Office Coordinator at our Greeley location, and enthusiastically brings the highest level of organization, efficiency, and customer service to the Administrative Team. Outside of work, Raquel enjoys spending quality time with her various family members, and she always enjoys playing with her Boxer and German Shepherd dogs. She is involved in playing various sports such as basketball, softball, and volleyball. Further, she also enjoys hiking, fishing, camping, shopping, hanging out with friends, going to concerts, and riding rollercoasters.
Amanda Cope, MS, CPT
Personal Trainer
Amanda Cope, MS, CPT, primarily practices at our Greeley location and has a passion for helping individuals live a pain-free life, and achieve optimal fitness. She loves to teach clients functional and enjoyable exercises in either a traditional gym setting or at home. As a Greeley native, Amanda attended UNC and earned a Bachelor’s in Sport and Exercise Science and then went on to then earn her Master’s in Applied Exercise Science with a concentration in Human Movement Science from Concordia University Chicago. While at UNC, Amanda completed her internship at Alliance Physical Therapy and loved the atmosphere of the clinic as well as the amazing team of providers. Once completing her Master’s, she was interested in finding a way to bridge the gap of physical therapy and the real world. She joined the Alliance team in October of 2018 and brings experience working with orthopedic injuries, joint pain, and neurological disorders as a personal trainer to the team. The ability to work closely with the providers to develop the best training program for each person individually is one of her favorite parts about training at Alliance. Her hobbies include hiking, indoor cycling, lifting, and playing recreational sports.
